History of Benny Farm

old_2.jpg

The Benny Farm property was developed in 1947 to provide housing for World War II veterans and their families. Having served out its original purpose, the site became the object of contesting visions of redevelopment over the past decade. The redevelopment plan that was finally agreed upon was designed to address the needs expressed by the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce community and includes a complete housing mix and various neighbourhood services, including a public health clinic, recreation centre and daycare. Through cooperatives and non-profit housing, more than 200 rental units will serve the specific needs of seniors, young families, single mothers and people with limited mobility.
