Water

1. Grey-water and storm-water reuse (these systems are not yet completed)

Grey water from the showers and sinks will be captured, treated and sent back to the toilets to be reused. Storm water collected on the roof and other impermeable surfaces will be redirected to percolation beds, thus recharging the groundwater table. Over the first five years, the feasibility of treating the grey water in constructed wetlands and feeding it to the percolation beds will also be studied. Together the measures should reduce buildings’ annual demand on the municipal water supply by up to 3 Ml, and divert up to 11 Ml of waste water each year from the municipal sewer system.

2. Water efficiency

Potable water use is reduced through the use of low-flow nozzles and small volume cisterns on the toilets.
